Luke Schmaling is the Associate Director of Operations for Badger Supports. In addition to being a Peer Facilitator he helps strengthen the organization’s day-to-day operations, student-facing program logistics, volunteer engagement, and internal processes. In his role, Luke supports peer facilitator skill development, helps coordinate outreach and recruitment, and works to keep Badger Supports’ programs organized, welcoming, and aligned with the organization’s values.
Luke is a Communication Arts major on the Rhetorical Studies track and is interested in Human Resource Management, recruitment, and broader Human Resources work.
Luke learned to support fellow Madison residents through his work at Porchlight Inc., where he is passionate about supporting unhoused individuals. In that role, he connects unhoused individuals with the staff and resources they need. That experience shaped his interest in working with Badger Supports, where he now supports students at any point in their mental health journeys.
Luke is a lifelong lover of running, traveling, and music! His bucket list includes seeing all of his top artists! (1 out of 5 completed!) Luke also loves to hike, listen to podcasts, and spend time with friends.
