Badger Supports is not a therapy or crisis organization, though participants in our peer support groups often describe them as therapeutic. Badger Supports provides a safe, peer-led space dedicated to promoting mental health and well-being among UW-Madison students. While our Peer Facilitators are trained and advised by University Health Services, they are not professional counselors.
Yes, peer support groups are a resource for students at UW-Madison. We are open to undergraduates, graduates, professional students, and all student identity groups.Β Β
Our weekly groups are open to all students, because we believe everyone can benefit from building a supportive community. Even if youβre not seeking support right now, showing up for a fellow Badgerβor learning how to offer support with confidence and compassionβhelps break the stigma, anxiety, and stress surrounding mental health.
Weekly groups usually consist of 6-10 students.
Badger Supports peer groups are drop-in and commitment-free, making it easy to join when it works for you. Groups are offered on both the Lakeshore and Southeast sides of campus to meet students where they are.
Our primary email is directors@badgersupports.org, and communications may also be sent to our forwarder @badgersupports. Directors & Peer Leaders may use their personal Wisc emails for communications.Β
Weekly Groups are led by University of Wisconsin students. Β After an application and interview process, these students undergo a holistic health and well-being training by various resources to create a space and dialogue that is consistently inviting, inclusive and engaging.Β
Most questions about our Peer Leaders and Directors, including training, climate, and leadership, can be answered on our Leadership page.

Badger Supports is proud to be dual-registered with the Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Promotion team at UWβMadison. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to strengthening peer-to-peer mental health support on campus.
As part of this collaboration:
β’ We center our work around student mental health and wellbeing
β’ Our team works alongside Prevention staff to improve campus support
β’ Our leadership completes both online and in-person suicide prevention training
We value this partnership and the opportunity to collaborate with Prevention. While Badger Supports may have its own mission and values, we respect that they may not always fully align with those of Prevention. We do not represent or speak on behalf of Prevention unless explicitly stated.
