she/hers - Class of 2027
Mary Giersch is the Director of Wellness & Support for Development at Badger Supports. She helps student leaders continue building the skills needed for thoughtful, responsible peer-to-peer support. In her role, Mary develops in-service trainings, supports leadership growth, and creates resources that strengthen facilitation, communication, care, and student-centered support across the organization.
Mary is a Psychology major who plans on pursuing a master's degree in counseling psychology to become a therapist. She is also completing a certificate in Gender and Women's Studies, and enjoys playing viola in the All-University Philharmonia Orchestra.
Mary is very passionate about connecting people with needed resources and reducing the stigma around seeking help for mental illness. Mary serves as a NAMI Helpline Specialist, where she is trained in crisis support and provides people with support, resources, and information related to mental health. Mary also serves as a co-chair on the Mental Health Services Student Advisory Board, where she advocates for the student body to ensure that UHS's mental health services meet the needs and interests of those on campus.
Mary is very social and spends most of her free time being with her loved ones. She also loves playing and listening to all kinds of music, and especially enjoys going to the symphony. Her favorite ways to unwind include watching heart-warming TV shows (Ted Lasso and Abbott Elementary are her favorites) and coloring.
