Mary Giersch is a Wellness and Support Coordinator for Badger Supports. She helps coordinate and strengthen peer led support efforts, helping leaders create welcoming spaces where students can connect, be heard, and feel supported. In her role, she contributes to consistent, high quality practices across programs by supporting planning, communication, and ongoing reflection among peer facilitators.
Mary Giersch is a Psychology major who plans on pursuing a master's degree in social work or counseling psychology to become a therapist. She is also completing a certificate in Gender and Women's Studies, and enjoys playing viola in the All-University Philharmonia Orchestra.ย
Mary is very passionate about connecting people with needed resources and reducing the stigma around seeking help for mental illness. Mary also serves on the Mental Health Services Student Advisory Board, where she advocates for the student body to ensure that UHS's mental health services meet the needs and interests of those on campus.
Mary is very social and spends most of her free time being with her loved ones. She also loves playing and listening to all kinds of music, and especially enjoys going to the symphony. Her favorite ways to unwind include watching heart-warming TV shows (Ted Lasso and Abbott Elementary are her favorites) and coloring.ย
